What is PLT?

PLT file extension is the standard language for printing line drawings. This file type is created by Hewlett Packard and is specifically created for 2D graphical information’s for HP plotters. PLT is associated with 'AutoCAD' by Autodesk, Inc. and identifies an image file that is generated by AutoCAD, for printing from a plotter. HP plotters use this format as primary printer control language and even this format wasn’t meant to be an interchange format, PLT has become a standard for almost all plotters.

Main features of PLT file extension is that it uses two-letter mnemonics as instructions for drawing lines, circle, text and simple symbols and PLT files can be scaled to different sizes without losing any quality.
